Invitation Pool League 2011
Back in June the Wycombe Invitation Pool League started and Totteridge Community Centre were invited to enter a team.
The league was based on a knock out tournament, with 18 teams split into 3 groups with the winners and runners up having a play off.
Totteridge seemed to sail through there group, but it wasn't always plain sailing, however they manged to finish top of their group with Half Moon Stars being runners up.
Totteridge were then drawn against the Marsh Legioners, played over two legs with the first to reach 9 games would be declared the winner, the first leg proved to be a hard fought contest but Totteridge came through the first leg with a slim lead winning 5 - 4, the second leg was an eagerly awaited contest, and this did not dissappoint, with the Marsh Legioners winning the second leg 4 - 5, thus drwaing level with Totteridge.
A deciding game had to be played to seperate the two teams and one player from each team was appointed to play the deciding game which Totteridge won and put them through to the final.
So from 18 team down to the final two, Totteridge Community Centre vs Marsh Legion, the final was played on Thursday 8th September with the winner being the first to 5 games.
Being the final the games were long and hard fought, with the Marsh Legion fighting every step of the way, but the strength and sheer determination of the Totteridge players pulled through and we came out winners winning 5 games to 3.
Well done to all our players, well deserved...
Steve, I think you're gonna need a bigger trophy cabinet.....
